DRIVING A STAKE IN THE GROUND

I woke up with a sense that this city is disjointed.  There is a feeling in this city that spells darkness…a sense of being ill at ease…like a cloud hovering over…a feeling of restlessness and aimlessness. For me, its a deja vu feeling..a familiar sensation I had when I lived in a very small town in China.  And I could not let this feeling go and it stayed with me for some time this morning.  As I read the words from Job 5:8-9, I am cognizant that before we came here, my cry for the people of this city was to come to know the Lord-Jesus-the hope for all. In the face of feeling a sense of discouragement this morning, I am once again reminded to come boldly to our Father who is the God of this city and “commit my cause to you” for you are the one “who does great things”, “unsearchable, marvelous things without number”.  In an act of faith, I  stand and ask you of you God: Father, take this city for your own.  We drive a stack in the ground and say that you will dispel the darkness.  You will change the aimlessness and hopelessness to one of direction, of purpose, of unity and hope.  You will make this city yours and the people in it, your children.  So, as we walk the streets of this city, we stand and humbly commit our cause to you…that you will do marvelous things without number.  We claim this city and the people in it for you…For you are the God of this city.  You are the king of these people.  For greater things have yet to come and greater things are still to be done in this city.  For there is no one like our God.  We drive a stack in ground for your name sake.
